For this project, we will be expressing ourselves via live broadcast to Japanese speakers and learners of Japanese. (This live will be also recorded and can be viewed later.) We often practice for various exercises in class but with this project we will experience producing a “real” live broadcast.
Objectives:
1) Express yourself on TV in 4-5 minutes. Think carefully about your message, along with who your viewers would be (i.e., native speakers of Japanese as well as learners of Japanese). (Please think about what you can communicate with your current level of Japanese.) 2) Correspond on the comment column with your viewers. 3) Convey your views not only with the Japanese language but also using images, gestures, your tone of voice, and volume of voice. |
Procedures:
1) Form a group with 3 people 2) Sign up for the date that you would like to present your live broadcast 3) Submit a proposal by November 14, Monday: Decide on the message you would like to express and how to express this. (If you have no idea what to do, try Show & Tell.) 4) Submit a script by December 2, Friday 5) Edit your script based on comments from the instructors 6) Practice your presentation with either Sato-sensee or Shibata-sensee 7) Present a live broadcast using UStream on January 11 or 12 8) Exchange comments on UStream comment section 9) Conduct final evaluation. |
*If you do not want your face to appear in the broadcast, think of a way in which to present without your face being shown. You could of course choose to present anonymously.
*For examples, check http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nihongo-class
Evaluation:
Evaluators: Classmates, Instructors
Evaluation Category: Will be decided based on a class discussion about the important factors in a live broadcast
Due is Oct. 4, Tu
In this statement, please write:
(1) your goals to improve your pronunciation (focus on the prosody) and listening
(2) concrete activities to achieve these goals (what kind of activities you are going to do, how often, how long, etc.)
After you post your goal statement, do NOT be satisfied with it. You need to actually do the activities that you planned:)
*You can write them either in English, in Japanese or in both.
